Alison Moyna Greene
Alison is a multidisciplinary artist currently living in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2003, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fiber Arts. She has always been drawn to various mediums and techniques and a concentration on Fiber allowed her the opportunity to develop a broad knowledge-base of drawing, sculpture, printmaking and multimedia, as well as learning specific fiber techniques such as weaving, textile dying and surface design.
In 2006, she received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Fiber Art from Cranbrook Academy of Art. During her graduate work she focused on developing a unique weaving technique; though it bears a resemblance to ikat it is based on chance and unpredictability. These works won national acclaim when she was selected as the Student Scholarship Recipient from the Hand Weavers Guild of America in 2005. She was also the winner of Best of Show in the 2006 Schacht Student Showcase, a biennial exhibition.
Alison recently had a solo exhibition, "Chance and Circumstance," at Indigo Art in Buffalo, New York. Photos from the exhibition are available here (click for link).
